The buying team goes to India
We didn’t really know what to expect on this trip. We had been filled with horror stories of what not to eat, what not to do, what awful things we would see, but now having been to India I am pleased to say that these stories were exaggerated. There were three of us on the trip and all of us loved every minute. So much so that our director is returning in December to go back packing!
The trip was for three days going from one supplier to another to buy spring summer 2010 samples and see how Indian factories work.
It was my first time visiting a factory and I didn’t know what to expect. I wasn’t looking forward to it, but again like India it wasn’t as bad as I had imagined. However it was not what you would see in a factory in the UK and a working day for a factory worker in India is a million miles away from my working day.
When a buyer selects a style for a range you just cannot imagine the work that has to be done to even produce a sample. Samples have always just appeared in the post and now having seen the various processes I can appreciate why sometimes it has gone wrong or the colour or print isn’t quite right.
It was a successful trip selecting over 100 styles for the spring summer range. We selected an amazing tie dye range of dresses and skirts for high summer that are fantastic! There were lovely tunics and printed t-shirts that are starting to be seen on the high street at the moment and look to be big going forward.
We were also very excited to find a new supplier of beautiful printed scarves. They are incredible and should be in shops early next year.

Rockin' Robin
"Rockin' Robin" is a song written by Leon Rene under the pseudonym Jimmie Thomas and recorded by Bobby Day in 1958. It was Day's only hit single, becoming a No. 2 Billboard Hot 100 hit.
Michael Jackson recorded and released a cover version of "Rockin' Robin" in 1972, which was taken from his 1971 first solo album titled "Got to Be There". It was the biggest hit from the album, peaking at #2 on the Pop Charts and Black Singles Charts.
We love robins and have several different types on sale for Christmas on our website.
“He rocks in the tree tops all day long,
Hoppin' and boppin' and singing his song,
All the little birdies on jaybird street,
Love to hear the robin go tweet, tweet, tweet.
Rockin' robin, rock, rock,
Rockin' robin',
Blow rockin' robin,
'cause we're really gonna rock tonight.
Every little swallow, every chick-a-dee,
Every little bird in the tall oak tree,
The wise old owl, the big black crow,
Flappin' their wings singing go bird go.
Rockin' robin, rock, rock,
Rockin' robin',
Blow rockin' robin,
'cause we're really gonna rock tonight.
Pretty little raven at the bird-band stand,
Told them how to do the bob and it was grand,
They started going steady and bless my soul,
He out-bopped the buzzard and the oriole.
Rockin’ robin…”
